YouTube star Jake Paul has come under fire from fans after they accused him of ‘looting’ during a George Floyd protest.

Jake shared a video on his Instagram story which showed him at one of the riots where he claimed he was tear-gassed by police officers.

It comes as protestors in the US demonstrated in response to the death of George Floyd, who was killed in Minneapolis when a police officer suffocated him by kneeling on his neck for nine minutes.

The developments have caused many US cities to implement curfews in efforts to curb the riots.

During the short clip of the protest, he said: ‘Bunch of f*****g idiots bro, I walked right up to there and these f*****g idiots tear-gassed me.

‘I didn’t do s*** bro look at them pointing guns at me right now.

‘That’s tear gas pro, f*** you guys.’

The YouTuber proceeded to share a close up of his eye which he captioned: ‘I’m tear-gassed my bleeding eyes’.

And despite Jake sharing clips of the fact he was there, hundreds of fans have taken to social media accusing the star of ‘looting’.

One fan tweeted a video that appears to show Jake during the riot at Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona, as fireworks are being set off by protesters.

While another video shows the inside of a shopping mall where people are breaking into stores to steal items and even smashing the windows on a car.

Jake’s videographer Andrew Blue, who seemingly posted the shopping mall video, before deleting it, has stepped in to defend his pal.

Releasing a statement to his Instagram story he said: ‘Just for clarity, I am a videographer and my job is to document virtually everything.

‘We were strictly documenting the situation and doing our part to use our platform to raise awareness about this horrific event and the overall injustice.

‘Nobody with us was looting or vandalizing, but it was certainly tragic to see and while we understand the frustration, we don’t condone or support any behaviour like that.’

Since the videos surfaced online, fans have responded on Twitter to share their anger.

Another raged: ‘Jake Paul films himself looting during protests of the murder of an innocent black man.’

While one added: ‘JAKE PAUL he’s at fashion square looting while people are protesting n being teargassed downtown.’ has reached out to Jake Paul’s rep for comment.
