Upload VR’s VR Showcase Is Next Month, Proving VR Doesn’t Need E3

Upload VR’s VR Showcase event is taking place on June 8, promising you an E3-style look at what’s coming up for VR gaming in the near future.

The VR Showcase will be showing off both new games and updates to some of the biggest recent ones, with titles like Pistol Whip and The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners already confirmed to have a place somewhere in the show. Apex Construct developer Fast Travel Games is also said to be unveiling its next project during the event as well, and Wolfdog Interactive will be giving us some more information on its Metal Gear Solid-style stealth title The Panther VR.

Last year’s VR Showcase was pretty great, and so I’m expecting big things from this year’s. We had games like Budget Cuts 2, Pistol Whip and Garden of the Sea get their debuts, as well as updates from Boneworks and Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. It’ll be exciting to see how Upload VR can beat that for this year’s event.

It’s also been confirmed the Showcase will be part of The Summer Game Fest. The Summer Games Fest is a banner for the many of the showcases planned for this year to unite under following the cancellation of E3 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With The Game Awards organiser and industry figurehead Geoff Keighley organising the Fest, it’s not just smaller, grass-roots events like the VR Showcase to be part of the Summer Game Fest brand either. Big players like the PlayStation 5 reveal event (June 4), PC Gaming Show (June 6) and EA Play (June 11) have also signed up for Keighley’s project.

The event will be live-streamed on Upload VR, IGN, and the Summer Game Fest site at 9AM PT on June 8, 2020. You can see the full listing of Summer Game Fest events on the official website.
