Former NFL Runningback and Dancing With the Stars Champion, Rashad Jennings might be next in line for The Bachelor. In 24 seasons, the franchise has never featured a Black Bachelor, so many fans and Bachelor Nation alums feel it is time.
Rashad Jennings appeared on ‘The Bachelor Live on Stage’
Jennings is not entirely new to The Bachelor franchise. While he was not on our TV screens yet, he did participate in The Bachelor Live on Stage on GMA3: Strahan, Sara, and Keke. The ABC show is a Daytime Talk Show hosted by former NFL player and Live co-host Michael Strahan, former The View co-host Sara Haines, and actress Keke Palmer.
On Feb. 7, 2020, the show teamed up with The Bachelor Live on Stage hosts Ben Higgins and Becca Kufrin to bring a condensed version to the Daytime talk show. To choose from, Jennings only had four eligible bachelorettes, and it was more of a game show feel.

“You gotta have fun, that is first and foremost,” Jennings told the hosts about his ideal woman. “I get turned off by somebody who is very impatient. Turn on — I appreciate somebody who puts other people first.”
He gave his rose to Ciara at the end of the show; however, it was to go on a date together, not an engagement. Jennings is currently single, so The Bachelor might be perfect for him.
Former ‘Bachelorette’ Rachel Lindsay would pick Jennings as the first Black ‘Bachelor’
Lindsay is a proponent of bringing someone in who hasn’t been on the TV series. When she heard Jennings’ name tossed around, she “loved that choice.” Since the running back won Dancing With the Stars Season 24, he is already a familiar face for ABC.
“If that’s what it takes, bringing somebody who’s not affiliated with the franchise, I’m for that. That’s what they used to do,” Lindsay told Entertainment Tonight. “They did it with Kristian [Haggerty] and Demi [Burnett, on Bachelor in Paradise]. So, I don’t have a problem with that at all.”

Lindsay is pushing hard for the franchise to cast a Black Bachelor since she was the only Black lead on the show in 40 seasons.
“If you don’t feel like there’s a good candidate for whatever reason, then let’s do whatever we need to do to have a lead of color,” she continued.
Fans love the idea of Jennings as ‘The Bachelor’
“Wow, I would LOVE Rashad Jennings as The Bachelor,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “He was amazing on Dancing With the Stars and seems like such a great dude.”
Many fans commented that Jennings might be what the franchise needs. They believe the women would be excited and fighting over him.
“I agree!” another fan added. “Bringing in an NFL player might draw different viewership as well, which is definitely needed.”
Other fans are surprised he is still single. Typically, the franchise announces The Bachelor lead after The Bachelorette airs. However, with the coronavirus postponing Clare Crawley’s season, it is unclear when the decision might be made.
