Justice League’s Henry Cavill Becomes Kingdom Come Superman In New Pic

Justice League star Henry Cavill transforms into the Kingdom Come version of Superman in an awesome new concept design.

The Kingdom Come comic book storyline has been revered for years now due to its mature storytelling and fantastic character-work. The story sees a disillusioned Superman leaving the Justice League behind for a decade after Lois Lane is killed. Fans have been hoping to one day see the story adapted for the big screen which now seems possible considering the DC Extended Universe is increasingly becoming more established. While there’s no chance we’ll be seeing Kingdom Come for at least the next couple of years, new artwork imagines Henry Cavill as an aged Superman.

The fan art from digital artist “Skull101ify” sees Justice League star Henry Cavill looking like the Kingdom Come version of Superman, wrinkles and all. You can check out the concept design below.

What this artwork does really well is show how battered and upset Superman can look if pushed to his breaking point, something that Kingdom Come excelled at. Should this current roster of DC Extended Universe characters continue for the next decade or so, it’d be brilliant to see a Justice League film tackle the beloved Superman story. At this moment, Warner Bros. and DC have been taking continual creative risks with their projects so it wouldn’t be surprising if Kingdom Come graced the screens of our multiplexes.

Henry Cavill’s Superman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
