For fans of The Bachelorette who were upset by Garrett Yrigoyen’s recent Instagram post, it seems Becca Kufrin is handling the situation. On her Instagram story, Kufrin told fans that “conversations are being had” with Yrigoyen and her family about the Black Lives Matter movement in private.
Garrett Yrigoyen posted in support of police on Instagram
After posting in support of the Black Lives Matter movement on Instagram, Yrigoyen wrote a lengthy Instagram post in support of police officers.
“I’ve been pretty tore up the past week about everything going on. I’ve listened, learned, helped, supported, and grown. With so many friends and family in law enforcement I couldn’t sit back and not support them and the hundreds of thousands of men and women of all races that represent this Thin Blue Line as well,” Yrigoyen wrote.
He continued, “There have been over 300 injured, shot, or killed in just one week. They are suffering the consequences over an act they didn’t commit. They continue to put in overtime away from their families, stay silent while being threatened, hated, and assaulted… Remember when they put on the badge they’re still humans, with raw emotion, the more brutality they face the more on edge they become, they make mistakes, they have compassion, and no matter how terrible they are treated or whatever negative is said to them, they still show up for us when we need them!”

Becca Kufrin’s family criticized Garrett Yrigoyen after his Instagram post
After Yrigoyen posted on Instagram, fans of The Bachelorette, Bekah Martinez of The Bachelor, and Kufrin’s own family were quick to criticize him.
“uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh law enforcement CHOOSES to put on a blue uniform. Black people don’t choose to be black. big difference. also ‘the more brutality they face the more on edge they become’…….that’s scary as f*ck. wow wow wow. so interesting that you stay silent about black lives but just HAVE to speak out about cops. you’ve made your views known before and here’s a great reminder that not much has changed,” Martinez commented.
Kufrin’s brother-in-law wrote, “This is the time to support our African American brothers and sisters. That is what is important,” on Yrigoyen’s post.
Her sister also commented on the post, writing, “G, you know I love you, but this is so much bigger than what you commented above. At this point in time, we need to support the black community and listen to their calls for systemic change in this country. By taking away their voices you are only asserting your privilege and losing sight of the bigger picture at hand.”
Becca Kufrin told fans discussions are happening off social media
On June 4, Kufrin posted on her Instagram story that on an upcoming episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, she would discuss the country’s handling of the Black Lives Matter movement with her co-host Rachel Lindsay, the Bachelor franchise’s only black lead.
“For all the DMs I’m getting…tomorrow @therachlindsay and I will hit the podcast to discuss our country’s current state, viewpoints, and how we can all move forward to implement change. This is one of the episodes I’ve looked most forward to, and one that is the most needed,” she wrote.
Kufrin’s response to the Black Lives Matter movement has been extremely different from Yrigoyen’s social media activity, and it’s clear her family and friends disagree with her fiancé’s stance. On her Instagram story on June 6, Kufrin let fans know that discussions about the movement and racial injustice are happening between herself and Yrigoyen.
“Many conversations are being had, between friends, family members, Garrett and podcast crew alike. Because I’m silent on IG right now doesn’t mean I’m silent in my life,” she wrote.
